Michigan Friday: So Satellite Camps are Back

Well, that bad decision didn't take long to get reversed and now Jimmy gets to work like the crazy man he is over the summer.

Start looking for new dates and locations.  Jimmy has already teamed up with Kirby Smart from Georgia on an Atlanta camp.   If you can't beat them - join them.

  • So how was Laremy Tunsil's night?  He goes from the #1 pick and drops down to Miami at 13 after 10 minutes before the draft, a video of him with a gas mask of him smoking and a text conversation of him taking money hit his Instagram.   He also admitted taking money from a coach.   Many people thought Ole' Miss was paying kids when they had that huge (in number of stars) recruiting class 3 or 4 years ago.  It seems it was confirmed last night.

  • So why has OSU been so dominate over the past few years?  I think last night's 5 first round draft picks was another sign.   I'm thankful everyday for Jimmy!  The couldn't cook rumor didn't seem to effect Eli Apple's draft staus at pick #10.  Let's hope we see some Wolverines go today.

  • Da’Shawn Hand's DL coach at Alabama is resigning due to possible recruiting violations.   That interesting - maybe it wasn't that hurricane simulator?

  • There seems to be a lot excitement over Michigan Basketball's recruitment of MI SF Jamal Cain, who visited and got offered this week.   He is a 3 star guy that seems to be a good candidate to bounce up the rankings.   If you missed it this week, that Columbia point guard picked Cal over Michigan and Syracuse.  I got a graduate transfer they should sign - Spike!

Breaking News: The NCAA Recinds Satellite Camps Ban

https://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/board-rescinds-camps-and-clinics-rule-directs-council-review-football-recruiting-model?sf25272735=1

The Division I Board of Directors today rescinded a rule prohibiting Football Bowl Subdivision coaches from holding or working at camps and clinics away from their school, adopted earlier this month by the Division I Council.

The board members also directed the Council to conduct a broad assessment of the FBS recruiting environment.

The camps and clinics rule received widespread attention after its adoption, with supporters contending the rule would keep coaches on campus with current student-athletes and steer recruiting toward the scholastic environment. Detractors believe the camps provide opportunities for previously un-recruited student-athletes to be noticed by high-profile coaches and possibly receive scholarships.
The Board’s action means the camps and clinics rule currently legislated is in effect and football coaches may be employed at any camp that follows Division I camps and clinics rules.

“The Board of Directors is interested in a holistic review of the football recruiting enviro
nment, and camps are a piece of that puzzle,” said Board of Directors chair Harris Pastides, president of the University of South Carolina. “We share the Council’s interest in improving the camp environment, and we support the Council’s efforts to create a model that emphasizes the scholastic environment as an appropriate place for recruiting future student-athletes.”

Michigan Thursday: How The Wolverines Might Be Drafted

At the end of the season, there was some concern the Wolverines wouldn't have any draft-able players.    Michigan hasn't really lit up round one in recent years and there won't be any Wolverines drafted tonight either.

Michigan fans will have to wait until Friday or Saturday before they hear a Wolverine name called.  Here is my take on 3 players that I expect to get drafted.

DT Big Willie Henry:  I loved Willie for a couple of reasons, he was late edition to Brady Hoke's 2012 recruiting class from Glenville, OH and turned into a really good college player.   He also was a great run stopper at Michigan.  I will miss the big guy chasing QB's around the Big House this fall.   I will have to dry my tears with the arrival of Rashan Gary.    Willie is a bit of victim of a deep DT class this year but could be a 10 year run stopper in the league.   BHB Draft Prediction is 3rd round.

C Graham Glasgow:  As been one of the big risers up the drafts board this year.  Graham was invited to the Shiners game and played so well he got invited to the Senior Bowl.   He went from a free agent to maybe picked on Friday.   Another guy who's story that I loved.  If you remember, he was not offered a scholarship out of HS and was deciding between Michigan and OSU for a preferred walk-on spot.   He picked Columbus but showed up on the Michigan's roster the next fall.  Smart kid.   BHB Draft Prediction is 3rd Round.

QB Jake Rudock: As we know he was only a Wolverine for one year but it was a 10 win season and helped Jimmy make a huge splash back in college football.   Someone will take a chance on him for a back-up role in the late rounds as a Jimmy schooled QB.  BHB Draft Prediction is 6th Round.

Expected Free Agents include:

Sione Houma - Could for sure make a roster with a need for a FB and a special teams player
Joe Bolden- His concussion history could be a problem when making a roster
Royce Jenkins-Stone - Could find a home on Special Teams
Joe Kerridge - See above for Houma
Wayne Lyons - Didn't really participate as a Wolverine
Desmond Morgan - Will be signed at a FA but questionable on a roster spot
Mario Ojemudia - If healthy has a great shot at making a roster
Blake O'Neil - Had the biggest blunder of the year but has a big leg
James Ross - Will be signed as a FA and could make a roster
AJ Williams - Probably a OG at the next level
Jarrod Wilson - Will probably get a FA spot and could make a team.

Good Luck to all the Wolverines this weekend!
